Both inpatient and outpatient rehab can lead to lasting recovery. The question is which one fits the person in front of us, not which one proves more commitment. That choice comes down to two things: how much clinical support your medical situation calls for, and what your daily life looks like right now.

Someone with a stable home, work they can protect, and mild to moderate symptoms may do well in outpatient care. Someone facing a difficult detox or an unsteady environment often needs the structure of inpatient treatment. Willpower has little to do with it.
